The
Good,
The
Bad,
The
Ugly!
The
Bad…
That
pretty much describes our year!
Let me start with the bad first and get that out of the
way. In March
’05, I lost my mom. It
was sudden and she didn’t suffer and we feel blessed for
that but it was much too early for her to go.
In June we buried her ashes up in
Wisconsin
where she was born and raised.
My mom hated funerals and wakes and
didn’t want any kind of ceremony or loved ones having to
change plans to attend. Since
she was a feisty wee thing we adhered to her wishes knowing
full well she would haunt us if we didn’t! It was odd
because the year before we were talking about what she wanted
when the time came, thinking it was at least ten years away. She
was 71 and we just miss her terribly, especially this time of
year. Last
Christmas at her house with the family was the best Christmas
ever which just makes us miss her more.
The day we were heading up to
Wisconsin
to bury her ashes in June, was the same day my sister Renee
was diagnosed with Stage 3b Cervical Cancer.
Instead of coming up with us she went into the
hospital. She
spent a very long week getting blood transfusions, every test
imaginable and they immediately started her treatments.
The
Ugly…
That
would have to be me walking around the house in my pink terry
robe with a catheter and huge pee bag (sorry the medical term
escapes me) around the house.
I was previously scheduled for a hysterectomy the week
after my mom died. There
was some (a lot) unexpected endometriosis which in turn
damaged my bladder hence the pee bag.
But all is well now and I’m feeling great, although
the flower delivery kid will prolly have a vision that will
haunt him for the rest of his life!
The
Good…
Lot
’s of family news…
Nephews Brent (Cheryl) who was in
Iraq
and Bill (
Georgia
) who was in Kosovo both came home safe and sound!
Nephew Brandon (Cheryl) was married in the beginning of
the year, Chandra his wife and cutie pie just found out she is
expecting sometime in July. Niece Kim (
Georgia
) is engaged to her boyfriend Mike, who I adore because he’s
killed a spider for me!
In June, Brian took the boys on their annual guy trip.
This year they spent a long weekend in Ohio, going to all the
Hall of Fame's...Rock & Roll, Baseball and Football. And
spent a night at a Great Wolf Lodge with the inside water park.
I took
my annual trip to Vancouver
with my net reading group and had a blast as always.
We took our 6th family trip to Disney World
in October and it was our best trip ever!
Perfect weather, no lines, the kids swam everyday.
Best of all it was at Halloween and we got loads of
candy!
Collin is as sweet as ever and just turned 12, he starts
Jr. High next year. As far as the rest of this year will be
spent getting five teeth removed to make room for braces, he
had four teeth removed two years ago, and all four wisdom
teeth were evident in the x-ray and will come out in a couple
of years. So we have decided with much thought just to change
his last name to Osmond!
Ian
turned sweet 16 this year.
He now stands 6 feet, shaves and his voice changed and
on top of that…drives! He
will be leaving for
Germany
end of June, beginning of July for a trip with his German
Class. This includes a five day home stay with a German family
eating things he probably doesn’t like!
In September we got the best news of all.
Renee came through her Chemo and Radiation treatments
with flying colors! We
are just ecstatic! Her
nurses and doctors at Rush St. Lukes were amazed at her
progress as well as her attitude through her strenuous seven
weeks of treatment. We
all knew as soon as we heard that awful news in June, that if
anyone can beat this…it would be Renee!
Go get ‘em Nee!
And
on that note…
We wish you nothing but Health & Happiness in the New
Year!
The
Moores
Brian,
Michelle, Ian and Collin
Lego
and
Montana
too!
